LG pulls back, 'will evaluate' upgrading Optimus series to Gingerbread when specs and source code are public

You might remember yesterday's brouhaha over LG's seemingly false claim that Android 2.3 Gingerbread requires a 1GHz processor or better, using it as a justification for keeping an official upgrade out of the hopes and dreams of Optimus One owners around the globe

So they're taking responsibility for jumping the gun and have committed to "evaluating the upgradability" of the Optimus line once Google's published Gingerbread's official requirements and turned loose the source code. Of course, it's possible they'll ultimately find another reason for keeping the phones stuck on Froyo -- but for now, we've got a sliver of hope.

Motorola Olympus hitting AT&T in 'December or January,' says now-deleted Facebook post

Recent losses of LG and Motorola certainly suggest that NVIDIA is finally making progress with silicon somewhere in honeycomb gingerbread or delay - and it might happen sooner or later if a message is on Facebook believing. Remember Olympus glossy black (pictured above) who fled last week? Someone in the captain's chair of one of AT & T official accounts, Facebook has responded to a question about the availability of the phone before today, matter of factly that "the Olympian Motorola expected to be available in December or January." We were ready to cast for the confusion on the part of an employee, but the post was subsequently removed without a trace, and monitoring with AT & T has created a standard "we have no information to share on devices to be" answer. The company said the announcement was made "by mistake" and we agree with them on a level at least, neither AT & T, Motorola or information to slide today.
